Skills match Buddies

Skillsmatch Buddies play an important and rewarding role – assisting individuals at our weekly skillsmatch sessions to create their online profile on the skillsmatch website, choosing appropriate volunteering opportunities and supporting them to contact and familiarise themselves with the organisation.

“I thoroughly enjoy talking with people about their hopes and aspirations and learning about their previous achievements and abilities. The process is so positive – in contrast to many of those that asylum seekers have to go through in their daily lives.”

“Volunteering as a skillsmatch Buddy has enabled me to increase my awareness and appreciation of the wide range of skills asylum seekers and refugees have and how much they have to offer, and the barriers which they experience in being able to use their skills and fulfil their potential”
